The International Association of Facilitators (IAF) conference is coming

Facilitation

Jessica Delaney

This week (May 2 – 5) I’ll be heading back to my Ottawa roots to attend and present at the International Association of Facilitators’ North American conference. My workshop will focus on building annotated agendas – detailed session agendas that are objective-based and, most importantly, aim to make the best use of people’s time.

A few things occurred to me as I’ve been preparing for the conference workshop, but the biggest one is this: Valuing people’s time is respecting people. I have never felt that someone who wasted my time valued me. It’s as straight a line as that. So, when we bring people together, we demonstrate respect by making it a good use of their time.

To make it a good use of their time, in my opinion, it means you are going to carefully consider and to the maximum degree possible, do something with the input they give you.

So, to IAF conference attendees, I truly respect you and your time and can’t wait to spend some of it together. See you there.

P.S. If followers are interested in this topic but are not going to the conference, I would gladly do a post-conference webinar based on my workshop. Let me know.
