Building Community Relations

Date

Oct 21 - 22, 2026

Time

9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Course Description

Strong community engagement starts long before a project begins.

Building Community Relations is designed to help organizations move beyond one-off engagement and build the trust, systems, and relationships needed for meaningful, long-term connection with communities.

This online course focuses on the often-overlooked foundation of engagement: internal readiness. When roles are clear, expectations are aligned, and systems support the work, organizations are better positioned to build credibility and trust externally.

Participants will learn how to “right-size” their approach to community relations, aligning effort with context, risk, and community needs, while developing a practical, relationship-based approach that supports better outcomes over time.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a draft Community Relations Strategy and Plan they can take back and apply in their organization.
